Year Four - Day Thirty

Summer's View

We FINALLY left Calgary this morning and drove to Jasper along the Icefields Parkway. It is considered one of the top ten scenic drives in the world! Along with the beautiful mountains and glaciers we spotted along the way, we also spotted black bears, elk, mule deer, and big horned sheep! We saw a beautiful male mountain goat right beside the Glacier Skywalk, looking like he wanted to jump up on it with the tourists!

We stopped at the tourist center, and went on cool ride up to the Athabasca Glacier. The vehicles were called ice explorers, and they were like busses with huge four-wheel drive tires on them for gripping the rugged roads and ice. A 30 minute ride took us onto the glacier where we walked around for a while and tasted some glacier water.  Awesome!
