Year Three - Day 104

Sam's View

Today we travelled to Prospect, OR. It is really close to Crater Lake National Park!

Summer's View

We drove to Crater Lake RV Park near Crater Lake, OR for a few nights stay.  Lots of mountains along the drive away from the coast, but we made it in!

Jim's View

Today was a travel day. We moved down south and inland a bit to Crater Lake area, OR. Interesting drive. They have lots of cattle out here. Not something I typically associated with Oregon. Getting to the Crater Lakes area brought us more and more into the Cascade Mountains (I think), and the coach was struggling a bit with the climbs. I hit the over temp once, not good. You don't like to hear alarms going off. We had put the coach in the shop in Spokane Valley, WA way back when specifically to look at this issue. Maybe I am still learning to drive the mountains. We still have lots of mountains to go during this trip, so I had better figure it out soon. :(

We had talked with mom during the drive and she brought up fires in the area. Funny, on our way in we learned there are fires all around the area here. There is smoke in all the valleys up to and in our campground. We saw a fire helicopter go down into a river to scoop up some water. We did not see him as they were behind some trees. Surprisingly they were in and out pretty fast. Sam took the pic below as he was going one way and us the other.

Anyways, we made it. We are in the middle of no where. This is a nice little campground, quiet, treed, in no where land. No cell phone service, my satellite internet dish has a tree right in front of it, so we only have the wifi from the campground. Slow, unreliable, but it works.

All set up, time for a beer!
